On December 13, 2012 19 year old Joshua Proutey was shot and killed while leaving work. Joshua Proutey was an outgoing, adventurous young man with a heart for children. Joshua worked The Thalian Association
Instead of turning away in her grief, Joshua’s mother, Patty decided to turn tragedy into action and created Journey4Josh (J4J) a non-profit 501 (c) foundation whose desire is to help continue the journey for other children, as Joshua’s journey was cut short. Our mission is to reach the children between the ages of 5-8 in Wilmington with an interest in performing arts, sports, or other enrichment programs. We will fund such activities for families who otherwise would be unable to afford these services.
We are dedicated to providing an environment that respects diversity, ideas, and hard work. We are a group of real people who simply believe that good can come out of the tragic loss of Joshua Proutey. Here is our action plan:
